1.DATE AND LOCAL
The 14th INTERNATIONAL FOLKLORE FESTIVAL OF BRASIL will take place on August 12th to 20rd, 2000 with performances in some cities of the litoral of São Paulo State.
ATTENTION: We would like to know if your group is interested and capacited in staying here in Brazil during a week after the end of the Festival, for taking place in other festivais into the same conditions. We need your answer for giving us the possibility to treat it with the organizers of these festivals.
2. CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION
Follkloric Dance and/or Music Group from the origen country, in number that no excced 30 elements among dancers, musicians, coreographes, directors, and others, described in the list whose dispatch must be done, containing names, birthdate, passport number, and function in the group.
WE DON’T ACCEPT MECHANIC MUSIC (TAPE). ONLY MUSIC MADE BY THE INSTRUMENTS OF THE GROUP.
3. NECESSARY MATERIAL FOR THE PARTECIPATION
PREVIOUSLY BY MAIL/POST
We need that you send us by post, the material about your group like the historical, folders, poster, tape and/or CD, 5 color photos, 5 black and white photos (about 10cmX16cm), a English/Official language from your country dictionary and vice-versa (just for foreigner groups), together with the participation form completely filled and signed down.
THE MATERIAL THAT THE GROUP HAS TO BRING
A. Gifts: Verify the iten for "Exchange Gifts".
B. Flag: an official flag (about 2,00m X 1,60m) for been hoisted in the Official Opening. The same one can be used as a gift for the Museum.
C. Land: a safe with a land handful of your country, for the act of the planting of the Peace Tree (Verify the iten Official Program - Cult and Planting of the Peace Tree).
D. Dancing Historical to be presented: a short description about the each dance to be presented during the event (five to ten lines each one) written in english, spanish, french or portuguese. It will be utilized in every performances of the group.
4. WHAT OUR ORGANIZATION OFFERS
- LODGING: Accommodation for all members of the group (DO NOT EXCEEDING 30 PEOPLE) from August 11th to 21rd 2000, in a holiday resort, with rooms for 4 to 8 people in each one, separated in feminine and masculine blocs. (ATTENTION: in each room it will be lodged just the members from the same group. There is no possibility (It’s forbiden) in lodging couples stay together or people from diferents groups in the same room.).
- NOURISHMENT/FOOD: We offer the breakfast, lunch and dinner in the mentioned period (of August 11th to 21rd,2000) following schedules organized by the holiday resort administration.
- TRANSPORT: We are responsible for the transport from the Cumbica Airport in São Paulo to the lodge when the group arrives and vice-versa in the departure day, as well from the lodge to the performances areas.
- MÉDICAL ASSISTENCE: a voluntary group from the Brazilian Red Cross together with our organization, will be offering an assistance 24 hours in the lodging and in the spectacle area.However, WE CAN’T BE RESPONSIBLE for any hospital expenses, like a surgery and acquisition of any medicines. If you want we can take steps for getting a health-insurance for your group, but we need to be informed in advance about your decision.
- ORGANIZATIONAL ASSISTANCE: A group of voluntaries (majority youngs) that works non-profit work, divides many functions for the organization in the event, wearing a yellow-veste for his identification, crachás and one of them will be 24 hours at disposition for each group offering help as translater and interpreter, whose we call delegate.
5. OFFICIAL PROGRAM (PERFORMANCES/PROJECTS)
A. ETNOGRAPHIC PARADE: a parade with all groups in a main avenue, obeying some pauses in points previously indicated for a demonstration of the group that will do a performance during the event.
B. OFFICIAL OPENING: Opening Solemnity of the event with the hoistening of flags including countries and brazilien states presents in the event. After there will be performances of all groups, lasts 5’ each one.
C. ECUMENIC CULT AND PLANTING OF THE PEACE TREE: this cult is realized in open-air without discrimination of race, color and religion. Every group must to be present for the instruments blessing, and next the groups who want can make a little performance, dancing or singing a short religious song from their country. After, the Peace Tree will be planted in a almagam of land from all the countries participants brought by each group, in a intention to simbolize the peace among the people.
D. PERFORMANCES (5’, 15’, 20’, 30’ e 60’): time to be defined in accord of each performance in the spectacle area.
E. SCHOOL PROJECT (DANCE FOR STUDENTS): we invite the schools for their students will be presents at the spectacle area.
F. DISTRICTS DANCES: performances in places not so near of the central area of the city.
G. STREET DANCES: performances in some locals as Banks, Squares and so on in the commercial area of the city.
H. WORKSHOP DANCE: the groups make an interchange, teaching and learning dances from several countries.
6. GIFTS EXCHANGE
A. Official visits: A couple wearing typical clothes of each group and their director exchange gifts (folders from his country, cds, tapes or other remembrances) with the autrorities of the cities where the event will take place. The authorities are in number of 6. Their names will be sending listed in a few time.
B. Organization: gifts exchange with the event organizers.
C. Folkloric Groups: the group can make exchange with the others groups participants to the event, during the congraternization party that occure among every one, on the same night of the gift exchange with the organization.
D. Folklore Museum: After twelve years consecutives in realization the Festival is trying (with all remebrances and gifts offered by the groups of several countries) reachs the dream of this audacious project, with the intention to link culture and tradition from many places of the world, in an unique local. For this reason, we need a couple of dolls wearing typical clothes, a typical clothe, divulgation material about your group and about your country (tapes and/or CDs, books, handcrafts and so on) and a flag from your country.
7. NATION’S NIGHT
Every night the organization will promove parties among the groups, to intensity the knowledge of the culture from the countries participants. Each group has the oportunity to do a typical confraternization party from his country, with jokes, performances, dances with the others groups and/or with the organizers, and make typical foods.
8. TOURISM
Reserves/Tickets: make your reserves at the Air Company with antecedence to avoid problems. Generaly in this period of the year, it is very difficult to get places in the flights to Brazil. So, it is better to take steps since now. Avoid any disturbance!
Exchange: To facilitate the exchange of money in our country we reccommend you to bring the American Dollar (U$). About the credit cards, in our country, we accept: Diners, American and Visa, if they are internationals.
Embarcation tax: each person have to pay a tax in our country (value about U$ 40,00) in the Airport, when they are leaving Brazil. So, be attentive, each member of the group must to pay this value on the departure day of the group in the Airport, because it is a governamental rule in our country.
Day off: the group has a free-day when could rest, or make any kind of city-tour. (Verify the iten City-Tour).
City-Tour: The organization intend to send an itinerary of city-tour with their respectives values. If you know about any place in Brazil, that interest you make a city-tour, could you inform us in advance? It would facilitate tor us to make the reserves. If we do this, we won’t have problems with reserves and places in the buses.
Tourists groups: you can organize a tourist group (relatives, friends and so on) to assist the festival, and for doing some city tour. We have places in the others holiday resorts whose price is about U$ 40,00 daily per person including three meals. ATTENTION: these tourists can not stay in the same lodgment where the participants of the folkloric groups of the event are. The value informed (U$ 40,00) can be altered, without previous warming, before realizing the reserve. If you are interested in it, we need a list with the names of all tourists and the staying period, giving us the possibility in make the reserve in advance, to avoid problems.
IMPORTANT: the folkloric groups who wish arrive here before August 12, or stay longer, to travel, must to inform us in advance, to give us the possibility to make the reserve, because we just can be responsible by the expenses for the members of the folkloric groups in the period of August 12th to 20rd, 2000 (Verify the iten what our organization offers - Lodging and Nourishment/Food).
