The NGO ABrasOFFA – Brazilian Association of Popular Arts and Folklore Festivals Organizers – following the UNO recommendations realized in September 21, 2006 an activity faced to peace called “Flying for the Peace”.

With partnership with the NGO Pro-Viver, SEDUC (Municipal Office of Education from Santos city) and with the help of 23 young people from PET (Work Education Program) and 5 teachers from SENAC, the ABrasOFFA and its young volunteers organized with about 100 needy children (from 3 to 11 years old) a very special afternoon at the “Gemma Rebello Nursery School” in Campos Mello's Street, Santos city – Sao Paulo State – Brazil.

During this afternoon were developed workshops for the construction of kites with the kids, teaching them how to make a kite step by step, and showed them that is possible to build something by them.  The young people from PET made a project with their teachers, developing the preparation, costs, necessary materials, involving the idea of the peace, and the cautions they should have with the children who would participate in the project.

The young people from PET and ABrasOFFA, separated the children in teams and share the responsibilities where every child was dependent of other to have the final product, the KITE... ready to fly.  The youngest also wished to participate and develop a smaller kite, but that had the same effect of the big ones, make the kite fly.

The goal of the workshop was to develop with the kids the idea of the importance of this day and all can see their own work, having a result and reaching the objectives, to make the kites fly.  This imaginary task developed the cooperation, awareness, union and a truly team work, because every single one depended on the other's work, to finish the kite.
